Here are some of the options which are within your grasp. You can combine however you decide.

Managua Sights:

If Managua was a girl, you wouldn’t fall in love at first sight, but she’ll end up stealing your heart. As capital and economical heart of the country, it is definitely the best place in the country to try your salsa steps, see a concert or have some great food.

What to do? Wander around in the old downtown, go to the port Salvador Allende, enjoy a 360-degree view of the whole city, its lake, lagoon and volcanoes from the Tiscapa viewpoint. Check out a baseball game in the brand new stadium, go to the local Huembes market for some souvenirs, or go to the Managua highlands in El Crucero whether you believe it or not you will need a sweater.

Masaya Volcano & Town

Marvel at the lava lake in this mouth of hell. A must-see for everyone coming to Nicaragua just 20 minutes from Casa Inti.

Just a bit further, check out Masaya town with its handicraft market, Malecon and authentic Nicaraguan atmosphere, Apoyo lagoon and Catarina viewpoint are just a bit further.

Apoyeque

Apoyeque and Xiloa twin crater lakes

These two crater lakes are quite off the beaten track, so expect only to encounter locals over there. You can just go for a dip in the Xiloa lagoon or you can go a 30 min drive further to the Apoyeque volcano.

From the edge you will see the lagoon, a 100m below you. At the summit, you’ll have panoramic views of Managua and other lakes and volcanoes of this country.

El Chocoyero – El Brujo National Park & Cerro Ventarrón.

El Chocoyero national park with its cloud forest, waterfall and wildlife will astonish you so much that you will not believe you are still in the capital.

Just a bit further down the road you’ll find the Ventarron hill. This hill with its grasslands and spectacular backside view from the Masaya volcanic complex along with the Managua hills and lake will make your daytrip a truly rewarding experience.
